Jesus is a spiritual leader from ancient Israel whose teachings centered around divine love and human justice. He asserted the power of individuals to choose out of love, and to change their lives and the lives of others through the power of faith in the divine. He was a teacher, mentor, leader, and revolutionary who embodied revolutionary ideals of service, bravery, redemption and love. His teachings throughout his lifetime, and his subsequent example of self-sacrificing death, challenged the status quo and influenced the religious, political and economic contours of society and continues to have broad implications in religious and spiritual practice, social justice work, and meaningful living. Jesus serves as a symbol, a moral exemplar and a source of hope for many.
