What is this?

Vanessa Andreotti defines 'colonial future' as "a term that refers to how the past continues to inform and shape the future in terms of relations of colonialism. It implies an ongoing relationship between colonized and colonizer, marked by power asymmetries and deeply embedded structures of racism, exploitation, and subjugation. It suggests an understanding of the future that insists on taking into account the contexts of colonialism, including its multiple effects on peoples, societies, and environments, regardless of settler attempts to erase, contain, ignore, and deny these legacies."
