What is this?

The Scientific Revolution, a period of intellectual and cultural transformation in the 16th and 17th centuries, marks a significant shift away from traditional religious sources and ancient authority in the pursuit of understanding Nature. It saw the emergence of a new era of scientific progress, with a focus on empirical, experimental and quantitative methods for the exploration of natural phenomena and the development of new theories about the structure and organization of the physical universe. This revolution resulted in a dramatic transformation of scientific knowledge, including advances in astronomy, medicine and mathematics, and has had ripple effects in the subsequent centuries.
