What is this?

A conceptual framework is a set of theories, ideas and beliefs that ground the development of research and theory in an academic discipline. It provides an integrated structure for the investigation of a particular phenomenon, and can be used to deepen our understanding of a particular area of study by identifying theoretical perspectives, theories and principles that guide analysis. Conceptual frameworks help to provide a reasoned and systematic explanation for why certain decisions have been made, and are essential for formulating a research problem and desigining research that adheres to rigorous methodological standards.
