Microdosing, as a novel and increasingly popular pharmacological tool, involves taking sub-therapeutic doses of a drug or other substance in order to elicit subtle, yet psychoactive outcomes in the user. Unlike traditional therapeutic dosing, microdoses are approximately 1/10th to 1/40th of a full therapeutic dose, and are generally intended to produce physiological, psychological, and even spiritual effects. Microdosing has been used to explore and engage in psychedelic experimentation, to enhance creativity and productivity, and to support health and well-being. As such, microdosing has emerged as a popular cultural phenomenon and disruptive application of biotechnology.
