• i believe that i i can't give a complete account of the hemisphere hypothesis but but that the two hemispheres

• uh in either the left or right hemisphere and what happened to their work and what seems to be quite clear is
• work and what seems to be quite clear is that a stroke in the left hemisphere doesn't necessarily damage their uh
• creativity whereas if they have damage to the right hemisphere their creativity is switched off so i mean that's putting
• and i use this lens of the left and right hemispheres to take a look at what it is that a i is already doing to our
• into our lives a greater awareness of what our right hemisphere can tell us i think one is silence
• view based on workings of her right hemisphere and left left hemisphere of the brain and uh well
• um how you focused on the right hemisphere and kind of flipped um the the narrative uh to show that the
• um the the narrative uh to show that the right hemisphere is um is the master because you know when
• you knew about the topic of left hemisphere and right hemisphere differences because
• want to have a divide between the hemispheres on the basis of thinking and feeling i think that the deeper feelings
• certain kinds of affect is more heavily dependent on the right hemisphere than the left it's clearly demonstrable that
• the left it's clearly demonstrable that the right hemisphere has better emotional and social intelligence in
• um which is not to say that the left hemisphere doesn't it obviously does contribute a great deal in terms of
• dropped after a stroke the stroke was almost always in the right hemisphere not the left

• now interestingly this is also a an image of how the hemispheres work as you may possibly know because you've

• localizes it in some way into two hemispheres but obviously it's the principle of how to deal with things
• principle of how to deal with things whether maybe one hemisphere has also a contribution to that part and another
• contribution to that part and another part of the hemisphere can also contribute to specificity and to
• think we know like that the left hemisphere is rational but dependable and the right hemisphere is a little bit

• it's not about science and reason on the one hand being properly left hemisphere and intuition imagination being right

• relation to creativity and the answer is that in every case the right hemisphere is more in touch with reality more able
• contribution to reality than the left hemisphere so what is the left hemisphere for i mean somebody should
• hemisphere so what is the left hemisphere for i mean somebody should say well you can't you must have got it
• things and getting stuff but the right hemisphere has been left therefore with the task of with its 360 degree
• attention rather than the three degree attention of the left hemisphere has been left with the task of holding the
• we need something else which the right hemisphere is capable of doing it surprises some people that if the right
• surprises some people that if the right hemisphere is the one that really sees the whole picture how come is it is also
• the only one that understands uniqueness why is it that the left hemisphere cannot see unique anything it just sees

• black and white whereas the right hemisphere is the one thank you nuance in which it's possible to see elements
• needed and finally this applies to their relationship so the left hemisphere has an antagonistic relationship towards the
• an antagonistic relationship towards the right hemisphere it's got to be either what it thinks or what the right hand
• what it thinks or what the right hand but the right hemisphere has a both and attitude to what it knows and what the
• attitude to what it knows and what the left hemisphere knows after all in the story that gave the title to my first
• powerful because that after all is the the goal of the left hemisphere to require to get to grab
• see is the triumph of this left hemisphere's view that not that we belong to nature that we come out of
• exploit this is perfectly the left hemisphere's idea and you know we need to regain the idea
• this is what we have and and product brain has right hemisphere left hemisphere we see things from this
• brain has right hemisphere left hemisphere we see things from this perspective and that perspective but how
• and that dualism is there and so when one thinks of left hemisphere right hemisphere one can think okay does one
• one thinks of left hemisphere right hemisphere one can think okay does one represent the side of of course in a
• as individual entities seen by the left hemisphere and they are more together and holistic uh and more a feel than a
• correct in this case by the right hemisphere and so
• only physicalist physical separate entities then the left hemisphere is right to grab onto things and and make
• suicide because of the extreme left hemisphere dominance in our approach yes and let's take a few minutes and talk
• answers to this because what happens is the left hemisphere immediately said oh i see so he says we do this and we do
• making a machine it's made us very powerful what the left hemisphere wants but as a model it doesn't stand up to
• which integrates actually both the right and the left hemisphere but just as a thought came to my mind uh as a simple
• they work together they they have more probably at that time a right hemisphere kind of tendency that accepted as you
• their thinking and separating and not having a right hemisphere i'm just using terminology that we learn from talking
• your deep nuances you don't reject the importance of the left hemisphere and its functionality in the world
• so that the discussion right and left hemisphere uh gets more open and more accepting one of the other and this is
• down so that the right and left hemisphere talk to each other and are open the channels are open and whatever
• state there is a degree of preponderance of left hemisphere activity over right but during these kinds of meditation it
• and and we need in other words the the way the left and right hemisphere work together best is not by just being fused
• disabilities come from the failure of inhibition by one hemisphere or the other and a lot of corpus callosum
• they somehow liberate the right hemisphere or suppress the left which is sometimes said i know that is not true
• happen i'm afraid although at some level at some level the left hemisphere has to get to work and say okay i organize a

• reason that i got sort of excited when i was first listening to these hemisphere differences is that i have the feeling
• uh if there was an asymmetry between the hemispheres that enabled one to be as you say more about exerting control and
• do it in this pulsed way and if if the hemisphere is specialized in that way um
• there's also a possibility of one uh hemisphere observing the other right the one is one one has an idea and the other
• an oscillation that goes back and forth between the two hemispheres that you should be if it's working well
• wouldn't it wouldn't carve up in the way that the left hemisphere is the only one that's interested in shaping experience
• doesn't understand and the right hemisphere takes that back and reincorporates it into what it already
