Sacred activism is an emergent approach to catalyzing social and ecological transformation, one that calls for approaching activism from a position of spiritual consciousness, reverence and joy. Instead of demonizing and abstracting the 'other' or demanding the 'other' give up privileges, it opens a space for real dialogue, spiritual insight, and holistic healing. It is part of an invitation to reclaim the human sacred within the ecological moments of our lives and to remember our inextricability from the greater, larger sacred. It redefines activism as a deep calling and a search for spiritual meaning as opposed to a utilitarian, mechanistic process and provides a framework for reclaiming the power of symbol and story in our public life.
